HOME and FAMILY

Fear is the cloud which blots out the sunshine.

People often "settle" for what they've always known. Sometimes
decisions are made through fearing rather than thinking and planning ...
ignoring what they would like or possibly even need. Especially when
beginning a future, just "settling" can be a mistake.
When Gavin decided to marry and begin his life with a family,
he bought a secluded piece of property in a new housing area.
There was soon a nice new house sitting on the property.
Gavin liked the house, and so did Audrey ... it was similar to the floor-plan
in the homes they had grown up in. There were other similarities also.
The yard was bare ... there were no trees or bushes, and very little green grass.

Gavin and Audrey however were aspiring to higher goals for their home and lives.
They plowed up the entire property, then began planting. They went to
the Forest Service and purchased hundreds of seedlings, and surrounded their
property with them. Yes, it was a lot of work and took a lot of time,
but they were working for their future and a new lifestyle.
Next they planted grass in a very large area. A couple of fruit trees
were planted in the grassy area, and some small bushes near the front porch
seemed to complete the large planting project. Now there was only a few more
minor things Gavin wanted to do.
By the following year, Gavin had the driveway in, extra outdoor lights installed,
and it was noticeable that the forest trees were growing. The grass was growing
very nicely and covered the yard with a bright softness. Their home was looking
quite cozy now, and they were anxiously waiting for the trees to surround them.
Gavin and Audrey enjoyed their home, and often invited family and guests to
also enjoy it with them. By this time, the fruit trees had grown enough to begin
to bloom and have fruit. As the trees bloomed, the yard was beautiful, and they were
now surrounded by forest trees also growing around them. They were very happy
with their home and the decisions which helped them to accomplish their goals there.

Then the ultimate goal was reached, they had a son. As soon as the boy was born,
Gavin went out to contemplate installing a swing in one of the trees. Audrey was
able to convince him to wait a couple of years.
By the time Gavin was ready to put up a swing, he discovered that they would soon
have a second child. Well, he had wanted a home and a family, and he was very
happy with what he now had to look forward to enjoying as his future continued.

Staring fear down, setting goals, making plans and following them through ...
and always sharing love and caring ... that's the way to reach out and enjoy happiness.
